According to Eurostat, the highest unemployment rates among EU member states in August were in Greece – 14%, Spain – 13.2%, Italy – 9.3%, Sweden – 8.9%, France – 8%, Finland – 7.8 %, 7.6% in Croatia and 7.2% in Lithuania.
The lowest unemployment rates in August were recorded in the Czech Republic (2.9%), the Netherlands and Malta (both 3.2%), Poland (3.4%) and Germany (3.6%). Unemployment in Estonia was 6.2%.
According to seasonally adjusted data, the EU average was 6.8% in August, compared with an average of 7.5% in the euro area.
According to Eurostat, 14.469 million people were out of work in the bloc in August, of which 12.162 million were in the eurozone.
