The “Hunting and Dogs” trade fair starts on Tuesday in Dortmund’s Westfalenhallen. It is Europe’s largest public trade fair for those interested in hunting, says the organizer. From hunting weapons to outdoor and loden clothing to night vision devices and high seats: suppliers of hunting equipment from 39 countries present their new products there.
This year, the focus will once again be on contact and exchange between hunters, according to the organizers. Internet-savvy young hunters can network with influencers in the hunting scene in the “Horrido” social media area. Traditionalists will enjoy the regular appearances of various hunting horn corps, while those curious will enjoy one of the many lectures on current topics in hunting practice. At the wild food festival, connoisseurs receive suggestions for preparing the prey they hunt.
Bird of prey flight shows and deer calling championships
The attraction for many visitors this year will once again be the bird of prey flight shows and demonstrations of the different hunting and working dog breeds. For the 25th time, the best deer callers are once again competing against each other: whoever makes a particularly impressive call qualifies for the European Championships in Poland.
Animal rights activists criticize safari travel offers that have been part of the fair for years. Peta activists announced a “bloody action” on the opening day of the fair.
