European Football Championship Qualification 2024 and Results: Belgium, Portugal, Serbia, and Spain

Belgium outclassed the weakened Azerbaijan 5-0 thanks to the four goals of the gunner Romelu Lukaku. 20 minutes of the first half were enough for the home captain to score four goals. Portugal defeated Iceland 2-0 and won for the tenth time in the group.

The favored Serbs started better in the city of Leskovac and Veljkovic opened the scoring in the 17th minute. But Rusev equalized in the 59th minute, and ten minutes later Despodov sent the visitors into the lead. In the 82nd minute, Babič decided on the distribution of points. The Bulgarians, for whom former Spartan forward Minčev played the first half, finished the qualification in the last fifth position and without a win.

Serbia will be playing at the European Championship for the first time since its establishment as an independent state in 2006. At the European Championship in 2000, Serbia and Montenegro competed.

The Hungarians did not succeed in the first half in Budapest and conceded in the 36th minute after Rubežič’s goal. Captain Szoboszlai contributed to the home turnaround after the change of sides with two goals in two minutes, Ádám Nagy had the final say in the set time.

Lukaku opened the scoring in the 17th minute in Brussels. Then visiting Eddy Israfilov was sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession. The hot forward of AS Rome then scored three more goals between the 26th and 37th minutes. The best scorer in Belgian history improved to 83 international goals in 113 matches. Lukaku also cemented his position as the top qualifying scorer with 14 goals.

The 30-year-old former player of Chelsea, Manchester United or Inter Milan did not start in the second half, and the home team won only once without him. Trossard completed the Azerbaijani debacle in the last minute. The “Red Devils” dominated Group F without defeat, from which they advanced together with Austria.

Bruno Fernandes guided the Portuguese to a win in Lisbon in the 37th minute, the second home goal was added in the 66th minute by substitute Horta after Ronaldo’s pass. The team from the Iberian Peninsula kept a clean sheet in the ninth out of ten games in Group J, conceding only two goals from Slovakia in the qualification.

This ended the successful Euro campaign with a 2-1 victory in Bosnia and Herzegovina. All goals in Zenica were scored after the change of sides. Hrošovský’s own goal was answered by Boženík, after the dismissal of the home team’s Gojkovič, Šatek completed the Slovakian turnaround in the 71st minute.

Spain beat Georgia 3-1 to win their fourth home qualifier. After Le Normand’s opening goal in Valladolid, Kvaracchelija quickly equalized, but in the second half Torres and visiting Ločošvili hit their own goal. The Spanish dominated Group A by four points ahead of Scotland, who drew 3-3 with Norway in Glasgow.
