European Days of Archeology: Uncovering History in Normandy with Workshops and Demos

Notice to enthusiasts, these are the European Days of Archeology from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 June 2023. The opportunity for history lovers to go in search of vestiges of the past in our region.

As the latest opus of the adventures of the most famous archaeologist comes out in theaters in two weeks, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destinythe timing of these European days may whet your curiosity.

Who has never played as a child looking for treasures and relics, cracking his whip and adjusting his hat, like Harrison Ford. Even at 80, he continues to make young and old dream.

Why not, you too, play the archaeologists? We don’t promise you the big night, but just to search and see.

Advantages :

  • No tarantula, just ants and a few other harmless insects in a pinch.
  • No giant peaks, just safe places suitable for everyone.
  • No big bad guy wanting to kill you, just professionals wanting to share their passion.

The inconvenients :

  • No gold coins to take home, but maybe some treasures anyway.
  • No trip to the other side of the world, but surely a great adventure near you anyway.
  • No Indiana Jones in real life, nor a beautiful heroine… no, and there, sorry, you just have to stop dreaming!

Places steeped in history are not lacking in our region; in total, the European Archeology Days list 23 places ready to welcome you this weekend in Normandy.

We preferred to retain only those who offer workshops and demonstrations, for a more concrete and fun side. As much as you go a little hands in the ground as long as you do… In addition, most often, it’s free !
