The EU is extending sanctions against Russia
Brussels, 29 June, LETA – AP. The European Union (EU) on Monday extended for another six months the sanctions imposed on Russia to punish Moscow for occupying and annexing the Ukrainian Crimean peninsula.
Sanctions target Russia’s financial, energy and defense sectors, as well as dual-use goods. Their relaxation or cancellation is linked to the implementation of the so-called Minsk Peace Agreement.
“Given that complete [Minskas vienošanās izpilde] “EU leaders have taken a political decision to extend economic sanctions against Russia,” the European Council said in a statement.
Sanctions extended until January 31.
