Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, has among the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world, with 27% of its population carrying the virus. King Mswati III promised that by 2022 AIDS would no longer be a public health threat. Since the start of the crisis in the 1990s, enormous progress has indeed been made. But the fight is not over and the stigmatization of people carrying the virus continues to hamper the efforts made.
