Because she just can’t find a suitable apartment in Essen! She shared her frustration in a Facebook group – and triggered a heated debate under her post.
“Hello everyone, my husband and I would like to live right where your heart beats. We are from the Lower Rhine region, but live 500 kilometers away and want to go back. That’s why we’ve been looking in vain for a year on all internet portals for a nice, if possible three or four room apartment with a south-facing balcony or roof terrace in a nice house community,” writes the woman in her article.

“We know that we have to pay a corresponding rent and are willing to pay it. It’s just unbelievable what has been going on in the sector for almost two years,” she adds.

It is mainly Essen people who are not able to understand the woman’s wish. For example, one man writes: “If we were ten years younger, we would move away from here immediately.”

Clear announcement! Another woman has already dared to take this step: “We also moved away from Essen. Ten horses won’t get us back there. Although we lived in the countryside (Schoenebeck and Rellinghausen).”
