Erzgebirge/Wolkenstein.

Erzgebirge/Wolkenstein. The Makerz week of open companies started on Monday and runs until next Saturday: As every year, the focus is on career orientation for high school students from grade 7 and high school students from grade 9 onwards. During these six days, young people from all over the world flock Region in 315 companies to gain real insights into diverse job profiles.

Insight into the companies

The companies open their doors to give students, parents and teachers an insight into the real world of work and, of course, to encourage young people to undertake training in Erzgebirge companies.

It is vital for companies to find committed skilled workers

Matthias Lißke, managing director of Erzgebirge Economic Development GmbH, also knows this as on-site coordinator, which, in addition to organizing the numerous events, also distributed 13,000 accompanying booklets to the schools. At the opening event for the Erzgebirgskreis at Paper + Design GmbH Tabletop, An der Heinzebank in Wolkenstein, he said: “We, our long-standing partners as well as the secondary schools and high schools spare no effort when it comes to the next generation. This week is there to to discover the companies with all your senses. The message is: We have great companies with great training opportunities.” And that’s exactly how District Administrator Rico Anton sees it: “In the Erzgebirge there are around 160 dual training occupations and around 70 practical study programs with a wide variety of sectors. There are around 70 offers in the metal industry alone. There are 59 in the health and social services sector. For the companies in For Erzgebirge, it is vital to find committed skilled workers.”

Here everything comes from a single source

Afterwards, the managing director of Paper+Desgin GmbH Tabletop, Ilka Marx, gave insights into the company, whose decorative products almost everyone uses. With napkins, tablecloths and much more, in a variety of formats and always new, modern designs, the company has been delivering to 60 countries around the world since 1999. “Our 230 employees strive every day to make the world a little more beautiful. After all, everything here comes from a single source,” says Ilka Marx. HR manager Stefanie Hiekel advertised the four training occupations of media technologist print, industrial clerk, media designer digital/print and mechatronics engineer. After all, the company relies on the highest level of quality and qualified employees. Paper + Design has been using the career and study orientation offerings for years. The MAKERZ Week of Open Companies is particularly important in order to make contact with young people. “Each year, Open Companies Week gives us the opportunity to talk to students and young people, give them authentic insights into our company and get them excited about our industry,” says the HR manager. Things got particularly exciting for the young people recently. During tours through the production halls, they got a first-hand insight into the diversity of production
