Erick Thohir: MSMEs and BUMN are the backbone of the economy

Hopefully, Indonesian MSMEs will always rise and become more resilient. We are with you

Jakarta (ANTARA) – SOE Minister Erick Thohir revealed that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and SOEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy.

“MSMEs and SOEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy,” said Erick Thohir as quoted from his Instagram account @erickthohir in Jakarta, Friday.

Erick said that transforming SOEs and making them rise to class as global players is his main task as Minister of SOEs. However, making MSMEs, business entities owned by the people, strong and competitive is a joint task of all parties.

According to him, SOEs are committed to always working hard, hand in hand so that all public services, infrastructure development, energy availability, telecommunication access to business financing for the Indonesian people can be fulfilled properly, so that the business world can move smoothly, marching actively.

The initiative for the involvement of MSMEs as partners in the industrial supply chain as well as the procurement of goods and services for SOEs is a tangible form of sustainable synergy.

“Hopefully, Indonesian MSMEs will always rise up, become stronger. We are with you,” said Erick Thohir.

Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir would expand access for MSME players in order to build a healthier business ecosystem.

The Minister of SOEs gave an example of the MSME Digital Market (PaDi) program in which for the procurement of Rp. 250 million to Rp. 14 billion, the Ministry of SOEs has issued a regulation that there are no more SOEs participating in the tender.

PaDi UMKM is an ecosystem provided by BUMN for UMKM, which almost the entire process involves BUMN. The shopping payment transaction process at PaDi MSMEs can use virtual account provided by Himbara Bank.

SOE spending on MSMEs is emphasized to prioritize products made in the country or products that have a relatively high level of domestic component (TKDN). This is also supported by the quality of domestic products which are currently much better.
