Chairman of PSSI Erick Thohir States that Maarten Paes The earliest he can defend the Indonesian National Team is next June.
Paes is currently undergoing the naturalization process with Ragnar Oratmangoen and Thom Haye. Unlike the other two players, Paes currently has not received a call to play for the Indonesian national team for the two matches against Vietnam in March.
“Even if it’s Maarten, the process at FIFA is smooth, so Maarten Paes will only be able to strengthen in June or after June.”
“It depends on the occasion when he takes the oath. So the dynamics are still there,” said Erick Thohir in Jakarta, Friday (8/3).
Maarten Paes is a player who plays in the goalkeeper position. He is currently defending FC Dallas in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The Indonesian national team is currently in third place in the standings with a collection of one point. Iraq is in first place with six points.
Vietnam is then in second place with a record of three points. Meanwhile, Indonesia and the Philippines both scored one point.
This condition makes the Indonesia vs Vietnam match in March crucial for both teams. Indonesia will first host Vietnam on March 21, followed by an away match five days later.
In June, the Indonesian National Team still has matches scheduled for the World Cup Qualifications. In June, Indonesia has two home matches, namely against Iraq and the Philippines. The top two teams in the second round of World Cup Qualification will qualify for the third round of World Cup Qualification.
