Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said his country is determined to continue its diplomatic efforts until peace is reached between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaking at an event in the central province of Kayseri, Erdogan said the agreement signed in Istanbul to export Ukrainian grain was an important success.

Turkey is making a “substantial contribution” to efforts to overcome the world food crisis, he added, quoted by Anadolu Agency. With the mediation of Turkey and the UN, Kyiv and Moscow signed an agreement in Istanbul to resume Ukrainian supplies of grain from the Black Sea ports.

Under the agreement, reached under a UN-led plan during talks in Istanbul, a coordination center will be established to carry out joint inspections of port entries and exits and ensure the safety of routes.

Internationally valued for its role as a mediator, Turkey is coordinating with Moscow and Kyiv to open a corridor from the Ukrainian port city of Odessa to resume supplies blocked by the Russian-Ukrainian war, now in its fifth month.

Also, in March, in the Mediterranean city of Antalya, Turkey hosted a meeting between the foreign ministers of Russia and Ukraine as part of its efforts to bring peace between the warring countries.
