The TOTO KNVB Cup is a spectacle every year. On the first day of the match it rained goals and surprises. Almere City won by no less than 1-8, NAC was eliminated by Quick Boys and stunt team Spakenburg also managed to reach the next round.
On Wednesday evening the tournament was preparing for ten matches. AFC and HHC Hardenberg pulled off major stunts by eliminating Eredivisie clubs PEC Zwolle and Heracles Almelo.
PEC is surprised by AFC in the final phase
PEC Zwolle visited the AFC amateurs in the first round. The people of Zwolle had the better of the game, but it remained 0-0 for a long time. Fifteen minutes before the end, Johnny Jansen’s team ran into problems, as the home team from Amsterdam took a 1-0 lead. But luckily for PEC the goal was disallowed.
AFC still scored in the 86th minute. Wessel Been, who was cold in the field, exploded Sportpark Goed Genoeg with a striking header from a corner. He only needed a moment to decide the match and thus pull off a stunt against PEC Zwolle.

HHC stunt against Heracles
Earlier in the evening, the second matchday of the cup season started surprisingly HHC took the lead against Heracles. Uruguayan Matias Jones, who played for clubs such as FC Groningen, FC Emmen and SC Cambuur in the past, headed home from a corner in the 35th minute.
In the second half it was up to Heracles to turn it around, but it was HHC that doubled the score. Jesper Drost, who played for Heracles between 2018 and 2020, headed his team into a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute. In 2014, Drost won the cup with PEC Zwolle. Then he and his team pulled off a huge stunt by beating Ajax 5-1 in the final. It remained 2-0 against Heracles.

Sparta wins when visiting IJsselmeervogels
On Tuesday there was a party on the blue side of Westmaat due to the victory of Spakenburg, but on Wednesday that was not the case on the red side of IJsselmeer birds. The ‘Reds’ did not manage to win against Sparta Rotterdam. It was a special match for Sparta coach Jeroen Rijsdijk, who enjoyed success as a player at IJsselmeervogels.
Sparta took the lead after 37 minutes of play through Camiel Neghli. A mop ball was too much for IJsselmeervogels goalkeeper Jaimy Schaap, making it 0-1 for the visitors. Shortly before the end of the match, Sparta made it 0-2 through Charles-Andreas Brym and that was also the final score.

Katwijk leaves nothing intact from TEC
Ruben Doesburg actually closed the match in the 63rd minute. Excelsior wins despite Den Bosch’s late equalizer
Excelsior came to visit De Vliert Stadium. The Rotterdam line-up showed that Excelsior takes the KNVB Cup Tournament series, sparing players was hardly done.
