Envy x360 15: HP builds Ryzen convertible with 4K OLED panel

HP has several Envy laptops and x360 convertibles presented and also gave an outlook on an upcoming Zbook. In addition to Intel, there are also AMD models with the current Ryzen Mobile 4000, which for the first time are equipped with an optional 4K OLED panel instead of just a 1080p IPS display.

Specifically, it is the Envy x360 with 15 inches, the convertible is either with 15-watt chips from AMD (Renoir) or from Intel (Ice Lake) Mistake. They are divided into Ryzen 4500U / 4700U and Core 1035G1 / 1065G7, plus there are DDR4 RAM and NVMe / PCIe SSDs. Wireless radio takes place via Intel’s AX200 / AX201 for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5. On the connection side, USB-A, USB-C (display / charging), HDMI, an SD card reader and audio jack are offered. The battery has 51 watt hours.

The 13-inch Envy x360 is a bit smaller, and HP also uses Ryzen chips for this convertible. The connections and the battery correspond to the 15-inch model, but the touch display uses a 1080p panel. In the regular Envy 15 laptop with Thunderbolt 3, 45-watt chips from Intel (Comet Lake H), there are also 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a Geforce RTX 2060 Max-Q. The 13 and 17 inch versions rely on Intel’s Ice Lake, the larger notebook has a Geforce MX330 soldered.

All Envy devices are to be sold in Germany from June 2020, prices in this country start at 900 euros. The next Zbook will appear a few months later: The 15.6-inch model will be equipped with a 4K OLED panel, in addition there will be fast Core i9 and Xeon models and dedicated graphics units up to the Geforce RTX 2080 Super and the Quadro RTX 5000 HP blatantly advertises that the keyboard has been replicated from Apple’s Macbook Pro for an easy switch.
