Jakarta

Indonesia is hit by a firing storm (layoffs) some time back. In the notes detik.comthere were 6 companies announcing layoffs to their employees.

In this regard, Shinta Kamdani, vice president of KADIN, the coordinator for maritime affairs, investment and foreign affairs, opened her voice. Shinta believes the layoffs won’t last long. Although the labor-intensive sector is quite prone to layoffs.

“Hopefully it doesn’t last long. But it’s hard to be hardworking already. It’s hard to keep it,” he said Wednesday (10/25/2022) at the JW Marriott Hotel, South Jakarta.

Shinta explained that they were actually trying not to layoffs. However, the decline in consumer demand has had a significant impact.

“They are trying not to get laid off, but I think so because the market demand has dropped significantly, so they have to do a lot of things efficiently,” he said.

In detail, Shina mentioned which sectors are vulnerable, including labor-intensive textiles, for the footwear business.

“Intense work, fabrics, shoes,” he said.
