Entrepreneurs affected by corona receive compensation for fixed costs

The scheme is intended for SME entrepreneurs who are directly affected by government measures to contain the corona virus. The introduction of the scheme was delayed because the European Commission had yet to approve state aid, but that has now happened.

Maximum of 50,000 euros

“Depending on the size of the company, the level of the fixed costs and the degree of loss of turnover, companies will receive a contribution for their fixed costs up to a maximum of 50,000 euros for June through September 2020,” writes the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The scheme is intended, among other things, for companies in the catering industry, recreation, beach bars, gyms, events, stand builders, fairgrounds, saunas, wellness centers, stages and theaters.

Entrepreneurs who have already made use of the one-off Damage Compensation COVID-19 (TOGS) can also apply for the Fixed Expenses Allowance (TVL). A separate application must be submitted for this.

15 percent

Retailer association INretail is happy to start the scheme, but says it is disappointed that the retail sector can claim a relatively low percentage of fixed costs.

The government has set this at 15 percent for the sector. According to INretail, the fixed costs of retailers are often higher. At fashion and shoe stores, they often account for a quarter of all costs.

The trade association therefore calls on the cabinet to adjust the scheme. “Entrepreneurs in the shopping streets are heavily duped by corona and deserve a more realistic compensation.”

Applications for reimbursement can be submitted via this website.
