The Pole is a sure and basic defender of the Saints this season and again found himself in the first composition of his team.
The guests in this match controlled the situation, although they had a short, difficult moment. They took the lead after just over a quarter of an hour when Danny Ings showed off with a flat shot from outside the penalty area. Southampton prevailed, but the second hit had to wait until the 70th minute, when Ings re-entered the list of shooters. The ball was introduced to the game by Watford goalkeeper, Ben Foster, who threw the ball straight to the home player, he “pulled up” several meters and hit the ball on the long corner put the ball in the net.
When it seemed that the guests were in no danger … suicide hit Bednarek. The Pole tried to cut the pass from the left wing to Danny Wellbeck, but did so unfortunately that he put it into his goal. However, it didn’t take long for Southampton to respond. In the 83rd minute James Ward-Prowse showed off a beautiful free kick and gave his team again peace of mind.
The victory allowed Southampton to rise to 13th place in the table. Watford remained in 18th place and did not make a step to stay in the elite.
