Endziņa will continue to see a criminal case on incitement to hatred in October – Criminal news – News

A witness announced by Endziņš has been summoned to the next hearing, as well as equipment will be prepared to demonstrate the video recording in the case materials.

Not to mention the person’s name, Laura Majevska, the press secretary of the prosecutor’s office, previously told LETA that the man was accused of inciting national hatred and discord on the social network “Facebook”, as well as hooliganism.

According to the indictment, on January 30 this year, the man received and later published a video on Facebook at his place of residence entitled “The corona virus is in Latvia! Please share and warn others!”.

The video contained statements that were defamatory and hostile to provoke discord between the Chinese people and China as a country, saying that the Chinese and China as a country needed to be eliminated and that the Chinese could only make counterfeit goods and counterfeit mobile phones.

He also deliberately spread false information about the spread of the coronavirus Covid-19 in the territory of Latvia in this video. This statement was untrue as no cases were officially recorded during the period in question. These were false reports of health threats, which caused serious unrest and insecurity in the public and disrupted the work of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

“The defendant’s actions misinformed the public about the actual situation in the country regarding the spread of the virus, thus calling into question the joint activities of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control and other involved institutions, suggesting that the public is not informed and the state hides important information from the population,” he said.

The case was transferred to the Latgale Suburb Court of the City of Riga. There is already another criminal case in this court, in which Endziņš, together with two other persons, is accused of maintaining a fake news portal.
