Until now, Staten Island has been best known to tourists for its famous Staten Island Ferry, which runs from the southern tip of Manhattan to St. George’s Harbor past the Statue of Liberty. But Staten Island will soon have a new attraction to visit: a new mall will open in April 2019, just steps from the ferry terminal.
As its name suggests, the Empire Outlets will be an Outlet, that is to say a shopping center that will mainly house factory outlets offering knockdown prices. The construction of this project is estimated at just over 350 million dollars!
About a hundred shops
In total, the Empire Outlets will house around 100 stores, including many big names. Among the brands: American Eagle, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Columbia, Converse, Crocs, Gap, Guess, H&M, Levi’s, Nike, the American distributor Nordstrom Rack, Old Navy or even the interior decoration specialist Broome + Greene. The Jockey underwear brand has also just confirmed the opening of its very first store in New York. And if you don’t have enough arms to carry your purchases, you will even find a Samsonite suitcase store! ????
The new shopping center will obviously offer something to eat with a well-filled Food Hall. The Haägen-Dazs glacier will be present as will the unmissable Starbuck’s. Burgers lovers will also find a Shake Shack sign!
