Emerging talents shine at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2024 – Diario La Página – 2024-05-09 02:57:49

The ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2024 has become an exciting platform to highlight the exceptional talent of surfers such as Spain’s Hans Odriozola and Hawaii’s Jackson Dorian. Both surfers are already settled in the third round of the men’s U18 category.

Amid the majesty of the waves on the beaches of La Libertad, El Salvador, these young athletes leave their mark, captivating spectators and competitors alike with their skill.

Odriozola, a name that resonates in the world of surfing, has returned once again to the Cusco coast with determination and enthusiasm in the U16 category. His ability to navigate the powerful Salvadoran waves has established him as one of the favorites in the competition.

“The waves here are very good, there are always good waves and the organization is very good, they have selected two areas that are very close and these competitions can be developed. Here the waves are much stronger, they are long and better,” said the Spaniard, who knows the Salvadoran coast very well, since in the 2022 edition he placed fourth in his category.

Among the most notable achievements of the Spaniard are the four titles that accredit him as Spanish champion in his category, the third place he won in the WSL Pro Junior Contest, fourth place in the ISA 2022 World Junior Surf Games, and third place in WSL QS Boardmasters.

On the other hand, Jackson Dorian has captivated many on his first visit to El Salvador. At 17 years old he carries with him a load of expectations and an innate talent, he is the son of the legendary Shane Dorian and godson of the iconic surfing figure Kelly Slater.

“I was born and raised in Hawaii. I started skateboarding and started surfing about eight years ago. I love traveling and competing. “I’m super excited to be a part of the Hawaii surf team,” she said.

His father, Shane, spent 11 years on the World Championship Tour (WSL) as a professional surfer and left competition in 2003 to focus on big waves. He is currently one of the best in the world in the practice of Big Wave Riding.

Jackson’s quick adaptation to the Salvadoran environment and his ability to dominate the waves are testament to his skill and talent. Furthermore, the Hawaiian is pleased with his experience in El Salvador.

“It’s my first time in El Salvador, it has beautiful waves and the people are wonderful. The organization of this event is amazing; It’s a good organization, it’s ‘cool,’” Jackson said.

The presence of these two notable surfers at the 2024 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship not only adds extra shine to the event, but also inspires a new generation of talent to follow in their footsteps. His passion for surfing and his dedication to perfecting his craft are a powerful reminder of the competitive spirit and camaraderie that defines the surfing community.
