A Romanian court has sentenced an emergency doctor to probation for negligence in connection with the death of football professional Patrick Ekeng. Cameroonian Ekeng collapsed in the field with a heart attack during a first division game of his Club Dinamo Bucharest in May 2016 and later died in a hospital.
The emergency doctor, who was used in the ambulance, was charged after refraining from resuscitation measures. In addition to the conditional prison sentence, the doctor must also pay a fine of 200,000 euros and 60 hours of social work.
