Krefeld In Mannheim, the last places for the U20 title fights in Estonia will be awarded at the weekend. At the same time as the junior gala, Mönchengladbach will see the North Rhine titles in the U20, U18 and U16 classes.
(RP) The last and most important elimination for the U20 European Championships in Tallinn (EST) will take place this weekend in Mannheim. Those who are ahead here with the norm achieved will travel to the Estonian capital from July 14th to 18th to represent the German colors.

SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen has two irons in the fire. Anna Keyserlingk is the best of the year in the triple jump competition. At 13.10 meters, she has so far been the only German U20 athlete to have exactly jumped the norm. The German Athletics Association gives three individual starting places in each discipline. This means that three competitors in Mannheim would have to jump more than 13.10 meters to displace Keyserlingk, which is rather unlikely. Nevertheless, coach Peter Quasten has not yet booked the ticket to Tallinn: “Nobody should have the impression that everything is wrapped up. Finally, it is also about improving your personal best by at least 5 centimeters. Because at 13.15 meters the norm for the U20 World Championships in Nairobi in August would also be reached. Anna is quite capable of this vastness if she stays focused. ”

The second protégé of Tassels is the 400-meter runner Tessa Srumf. She is currently in seventh place on the German 400-meter U20 leaderboard. In order to get one of the six coveted places for the 4×400 meter relay, a new personal best (previously 55.27 seconds) would be necessary.

At the same time as the junior gala, Mönchengladbach will see the North Rhine titles in the U20, U18 and U16 classes. Even without Keyserlingk and Srumf, SC Bayer has some title candidates at the start. Both over 100 meters and over 200 meters, the title in the female U18 only leads through Lynn Gramse. If the 16-year-old gets anywhere near her best of 12.05 and 25.09 seconds, it will be tough for the competition.
Some starters over 400 and 800 meters use the opportunity to rehearse for the German championships in Rostock in four weeks and have therefore decided on double starts. Maya Semsch (U20) does this over 200 and 400 meters with a chance for the title on the stadium lap, while middle distance athlete Hannah Odendahl (U18) runs 800 meters and 400 meters. A duel between her and Finia Kretschmann from Troisdorf is expected over 800 meters. Langhürdler Felix Weidenhaupt faces his U18 competition with good opportunities over 400 meter hurdles and 400 meters.
