Musk must finalize the deal by Friday or else he will have to face court for failing to implement the initial deal he signed with Twitter.
Musk had made an offer without a request from the company to buy Twitter and signed an agreement to that effect in April, but then changed his mind, prompting Twitter to sue him.
As the trial date in this case approached, Musk agreed and resumed the takeover plan on the condition that the lawsuit against him was postponed.
Musk has reportedly raised money for the settlement since a judge temporarily blocked the case on Oct.6.
In July he said he withdrew from the deal because he was misled by Twitter about the number of fake accounts on the platform, allegations rejected by the company.
Twitter, in turn, tried to show that Musk was looking for excuses to pull out of the deal simply because he had changed his mind.
