Elon Musk, creator of Space X and Tesla, has accustomed us to many oddities and therefore it is no wonder when he says that the pyramids of Egypt were built by aliens. He is not the only one to think of it this way, but every time someone talks about it, he is submerged by whistles and abuse. It has also touched Musk in the last few hours. Yet there are excellent reasons to think that a higher civilization built the pyramids: the first reason is that no one has managed so far to explain how the Egyptians of the time of Pharaoh Cheops could have done it.
Speaking on Twitter of the pharaoh Ramesses II, who reigned from 1279 to 1213 BC and has nothing to do with the imposing buildings of the Giza plain, Musk let himself go a bit and posted a short sentence, «Aliens built the pyramids , obv », which triggered a wave of reactions. Obviously the aliens built the pyramids? Said by a person in charge of billion-dollar companies who just sent a private spacecraft, Space X, to the orbiting space station? But in what hands are we? Even Egypt replied to him in rhymes and the Minister of International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat invited him to go to the country to see for himself. Zahi Hawass, the popular former construction manager of Giza, called Musk’s phrase a hallucination: he found the tombs of the pyramid builders, and inside there were humans, nothing but aliens. Musk replied that the pyramid of Cheops was the tallest structure in the world for 3800 years. And to make it clearer, he repeated it in letters: three thousand eight hundred years.
In public, any Egyptologist who cares about his career has no doubt that the three pyramids of Giza were built by Cheops, Chefren and Micerino around 2,500 BC. In private, many begin to admit that the Egyptian was perhaps an “imitative” civilization, which it copied from other things it could not do. Hieroglyphics, stone constructions instead of mud, scientific, medical and astronomical knowledge appeared suddenly, as if knowledge had been brought by beings who came from another place and who were worshiped as gods: Isis, Osiris, Thoth, Horus.
But why doubt what authoritative scholars have told us about the pyramids? Because what they tell us doesn’t explain everything. Just go to any Egyptian museum to realize that the tools available in 2500 BC would not have been enough to cut the granite with that perfection, to transport heavy blocks of tens of tons, to raise them to 60 meters in height without even the help of pulleys and wheels, unknown at the time in Egypt. The pharaoh who built the largest tomb in the world for himself did not write his name anywhere, being the great pyramid without inscriptions. There is Pharaoh’s cartouche on a stone of the “clearing houses”, but the English archaeologist William Vyse probably wrote it with a mistake, only to be able to say that he had found something.
In the pyramid of Cheops there was not the mummy of the pharaoh, who was almost certainly never buried there. The tombs of Chefren and Micerino were excavated in the rock under their respective pyramids, and it is not clear why it was then necessary to cover them with so many useless stones. Another explanation would be more logical: the three pyramids of Giza were built by a higher civilization in a much older era. Thousands of years later, Cheope, Chefren and Micerino took possession of them by electing them as their burial place and enriching them with other buildings. The uniqueness of the three pyramids in Egyptian history is confirmed by the fact that all the subsequent pyramids, which should have been even more technologically advanced on the basis of accumulated experience, have instead miserably collapsed and are now a heap of rubble. Why? Where did the refined construction technology that allowed it to reach us almost intact after the construction of the Great Pyramid?
These are questions to which Egyptology cannot answer, refusing to accept alternative hypotheses, such as the possibility that the evolution of human civilization did not follow a linear path, but was interrupted by catastrophic events after which it was necessary to start over , or has been influenced by higher cultures to identify. Were they aliens? Researchers such as Erich von Daniken, Graham Hanckock, Robert Bauval, Zecaria Sitchin and Mauro Biglino supported it and were ridiculed and mocked. Now Elon Musk tries it too, and risks ending the same way. But he has Space X: maybe he will find the aliens, he will bring them here and they will finally tell us how it went.
