Elon Musk Defends Necessary Layoffs at Twitter

It is “not fun at all” and even “painful”, but it is necessary, says the CEO of Twitter and Tesla. The company was struggling with “negative cash flow of $3 billion,” leaving Twitter with just “four months to live,” Musk estimated. He said he is certainly not indifferent to the situation, but “if the whole ship sinks, nobody will have a job”.

Musk bought Twitter last October for a record $ 44 billion (about 40 billion euros). Since taking over, he has revolutionized Twitter, cutting jobs, firing top executives and introducing new policies about how user accounts are verified. Musk claims that Twitter is now at a loss and almost all advertisers have returned to the platform.
