The New York Jets have a ton of assets to play with this offseason, but the key will be creativity and imagination in using them.

Gang Green needs to be flexible with how it maximizes its advantages in order to take full advantage of the pressure.

An analyst provided an extremely intriguing scenario that would help both in the short and long term.

Jets analyst Joe Caporoso and Badlands podcast Connor Rogers discussed a full range of Gang Green topics, including a possible change in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft:

“I’ll say a wild card to watch out for is Seattle’s first-round,” Rogers on a creative way to attack cornerback spot. “If that pick is in the 12 range, do you look at a guy like ‘Sauce’ Gardner? He is such a good soccer player and you would love the courage there and then you would have this super physical high school. “

They also said they talked about taking Ahmad Gardner out of Cincinnati in a possible trade scenario where you would take a future asset and still get your corner.

What that Seattle pick ends up becoming with one game left on the record against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 18 remains to be determined.

Rogers went on to explain why he would like Gardner’s adjustment on the Jets:

“Sauce could be that matchmaking player who watches the Mike Gesicki of the world, Kyle Pitts, or one of New England’s tight ends. He can be that traveling piece. Robert Saleh used to do that a little bit with Fred Warner in San Francisco. “

Do the Jets need a true No. 1 cornerback?

Many people outside the building said they did it before this year, green and white rejected that notion, and it worked wonderfully.

Bryce Hall showed moments of brilliance, Brandin Echols has only gotten better with reruns, and Michael Carter II is a keeper. On paper, you have your three starters and after their encouraging play in the second half of the season, it would make sense to bring the gang back in 2022.

While every corner has had some bright moments this season, a lot of bad ones have also been mixed in.

Jets X-Factor’s Michael Nania documented some of those issues throughout the season and the point is, Gang Green shouldn’t be complacent with his group.

It was supposed to be the worst in football heading into the year and it was decent. That’s better than expected, but certainly not perfect.

If the Jets can add a legitimate No. 1 corner, everyone on the rung will just go down one notch. That would be good news because it would increase the overall depth of the unit.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound cornerback is ideal for this Jets defense. He can easily play individual or zone defense and is extremely fluid in his movements.

It’s time for the Jets to seriously consider investing in the corner squad with one of their biggest assets this offseason.
