Elfsborg gave a statement of strength when FC Trollhättan was defeated by two goals in the semi-finals of the DM.
It was time for the semi-finals in the DM when FC Trollhättan visited Borås Arena. The same FCT that fights with Elfsborg at the top of division 2 to advance in the series system next season. There were also two really good teams pitted against each other, although there was some rotation in the team considering last and next weekend’s league games.
Two teams that both showed high class kicked off the match and it was clear that both of course wanted to do everything to reach the final of the DM. Both teams chased possession and were prone to try and convert, but it was Elfsborg who would be more fortunate in the first half. When 23 minutes were played, Vanessa Lopez was able to score 1-0 after a pass from Izabella Bergström. Trollhättan did try to come back immediately, but when Izabella Bergström herself made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute, there was a certain calm in the home team.
The lead stood into the break and continued thereafter in the second half as well. Elfsborg had good control over the events and was able to play the match to the final score 2-0. Thus advancement to the final in the DM, but also a certain statement of strength to have won against Trollhättan before the series final in the last round of the series.
Elfsborg now faces Lidköpings FK in the final. Time and date will come later.
