The e-truck from the Winterthur brand Futuricum was on the road for 23 hours on the 2.8-kilometer test track near Hanover. Then it was done and the world record for the longest distance covered with an electric truck was broken with 1099 kilometers – without charging the battery in between.
The express and parcel service provider DPD Switzerland, Futuricum and the tire manufacturer Continental contributed to the record. The Winterthur company Designwerk Products is behind Futuricum. For the record, Futuricum converted a Volvo truck to electric drive. “With a capacity of 680 kilowatt hours, the truck had the largest truck battery in Europe on board,” said Adrian Melliger, Managing Director of Designwerk Products AG, in a press release on Tuesday.
Two drivers were driving in shifts of 4.5 hours at an average speed of 50 km / h. According to the announcement, this corresponds to a realistic average value in everyday use.
