(Elbil24): So far this year, roughly 83 percent of new passenger cars have been electric here in Norway, but such a high proportion is completely unique in an international context.

Here, the state has long given incentives to buy electric cars, and with many electric cars on Norwegian roads, it has also meant that we have a well-developed charging network, which in turn means that more people choose electric cars when they buy a new car.

This is not the situation in many other countries – in some, electric cars are hardly sold.

That’s how expensive the best sellers are to insure

Passes diesel

It was still a milestone in June, figures show That (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association), because it was the first month that more electric cars were sold than diesel cars in the EU.

The proportion of electric cars climbed to 15.1 per cent and then passed diesel, which accounted for 13.4 per cent of sales. In June 2022, i.e. the year before, the proportion of electric cars was only 10.7 per cent.

Petrol cars are still the most sold (36.3 per cent), while hybrid cars account for 24.3 per cent of sales.

These countries have the fewest electric car chargers

This is how sales are in the neighboring countries

So far this year, the share of electric cars is a whopping 83.1 per cent of total passenger car sales in this country.

In Sweden, Acea’s figures show that electric cars account for 37.3 per cent of car sales in the first half of the year and are thus the most popular powertrain there as well (up from 27.6 per cent in the first half of 2022), while in Denmark electric cars account for 31 per cent of total sales (16 .5 percent H1 2022). However, slightly more petrol cars are sold there.

Finland also now sells the most electric cars. Where they accounted for 13.7% of the market in the first half of 2022, and were thus behind both hybrid, petrol and plug-in hybrid, the market share is now 32.7 per cent and thus the largest of all.

European countries where the share of electric cars is very low include Croatia (2.8%), the Czech Republic (2.6%), Slovakia (2.4%), Italy (3.9%), Poland (3.6%) and Spain (4.7%).
