Electric car sales in Germany and France are breaking records

During June 2020, a record 22,630 plug-in cars were sold in France. In Germany it was 18,868. All this despite the overall decline in the new car market.

This is also crucial for the ever-increasing sales of plug-in cars in these countries. In France, in June 2020, there is a year-on-year increase in car sales to the outlet by 231%. In Germany it is 119%.

In France, they accounted for the majority of electric cars with 13,728 and 5.9% share in new car sales (+ 205% year-on-year). Another 7307 are plug-in hybridy (3.1%, year-on-year + 446%). Another 1596 sold light electrical supplies.

The best-selling model in France is the domestic new version of the Renault Zoe. In June it has 6012 units, a total of 17 555 in the first half of the year. The second was the Peugeot e-208 (2127/8954) in June, the third Peugeot 3008 PHEV (768/2624), the fourth Hyundai Kona Electric (674/1854) and the fifth Tesla Model 3 (620/3562).

More plug-in hybrids are thriving in Germany (+ 274%), which have a 4.9% share of the new passenger car market with 10,749 units sold in June. A total of 8119 electric cars were sold (+ 41%), which have a 3.7% share.

In the first half of the year, 44,307 electric cars (3.7% share) and 49,451 plug-in hybrids (+ 4.1% share) were sold in Germany this year. A total of 93,848 cars in the socket with a share of 7.8%.

The best-selling cars in this year are the French Renault Zoe (1448/7066), Volkswagen e-Golf (1310/7320) a Tesla Model 3 (730/4367).
