Electric car purchase premium: interim balance & ranking (as of July 2020)

The latest interim balance of applications for the one launched in Germany in 2016 Electric car purchase premium – officially “environmental bonus” – has been released. The Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (Bafa) received 214,269 funding applications by July 1, 2020. Since June 1, 2020, 8,234 applications have been added.

For purely battery electric cars, a total of 137,515 applications have been submitted to the Bafa for funding up to € 6,000. The authority has received 76,625 applications for plug-in hybrids with a combustion engine, e-machine and several kilometers of pure electric range that are subsidized with up to € 4,500. 129 applications have been received for hydrogen electric vehicles with fuel cells (funding: up to 6,000 euros).
