Elderly Couple Forced to Pay £55 (£63) Each for Print Tickets at Ryanair Airport

Peter Jeff, 80, and his wife Ruth, 79, told The Telegraph that the airline made them pay the large sum after they realized they had wrongly checked in for their return flight.

The two traveled from London Stansted Airport to Bergerac Airport in France on Friday, August 11.

“The homepage was very confusing, they are trying to offer me all sorts of things. I didn’t realize I was checking in for a return flight,” says Ruta.

Since the two old men did not have digital tickets, they had to check in on the spot at the airport. “At the airport I tried to get my ticket but was told that check-in was closed and so I had to go to the check-in desk. There I was told that it would cost £55 (€63) for each passenger to print a ticket. I found it disgusting but I had no choice, had to pay,” recalls Ruta.

On the other hand, the representatives of the airline assured that the amount was determined correctly and the decision was made in accordance with the airline’s regulations. A Ryanair spokesman said the two were supposed to check-in online the day before the flight on August 11, which they failed to do. Reminders have also been sent to both of them by e-mail.
