El Paso County commissioners to discuss $ 162 million federal funds – Telemundo El Paso (48)

EL PASO, TX – El Paso County Commissioners will discuss this Thursday the possible projects to be carried out locally with 162.7 million dollars from the federal government in support of counties and municipalities affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

And that is, El Paso County is projected to receive millions in federal funding for negatively impacted essential workers.

As well as to address the negative economic impacts caused by the public health emergency, including economic damage to workers, households, small businesses, affected industries, and the public sector.

The funds come from the American Rescue Plan, which is designed to help local governments respond to and recover from economic challenges. However, these funds must be used no later than December 31, 2024.

President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan on March 11, and those dollars will come in throughout the year, according to county documents.

The funds would also make it possible to better pay essential workers and provide support in water infrastructure; making the necessary investments to improve access to drinking water, support vital wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, and expand broadband Internet access.
