Asturias is looking for its eleventh Gordo this Thursday. The first prize of the Christmas Lottery has fallen to date ten times in the Principality. The first time was in Gijón in the year 1885. Those Christmases two centuries ago, the number 45,488 invaded the city of money and happiness. Since then, El Gordo has fallen another six times in the most populated city in Asturias. In fact, it is one of the most attractive in the entire country; although those that have celebrated the first prize the most times are the most populated: Madrid, 82 times; Barcelona, 42; and Seville, 17. In addition to Gijón, Oviedo also appears on this list: El Gordo has fallen three times in the Asturian capital. In Llanes, Avilés and Nava, twice. And one year the Christmas Lottery draw made the inhabitants of Mieres, Pravia, Sama de Langreo and Villamayor, in Piloña.
Asturians, the third parties who spend the most
Although Asturias is not among the communities most blessed with the Christmas Lottery Jackpot, it cannot be said that we do not try. In fact, in 2022, we are once again at the top of those who buy the most tickets: 100.95 euros each Asturian. Only those from Castilian and León (109) and those from Rioja (102.5) surpass us. On the other side of the table are the most skeptical: the Canary Islands (43.7) and the Balearic Islands (39.63).
Asturian lotteries are noticing an increase in sales this year, which they estimate between 8 and 10 percent. The most sought-after endings in the administrations of the Principality are 2, 7, 5, 13, 69 and, also, 22, coinciding with the year that is about to end.
