The executive has a track record of more than twenty years in the field of communication and digital strategy. Among the companies where Fuentes has worked are Tinkle or Ogilvy & Mather, where he was responsible for the social media team in Spain. In addition, the manager is also a professor at the Isdi business school.

Currently, El Corte Inglés is undergoing a staff restructuring process. Last February, the group announced that it would reform the administrative, central and regional services team, as well as the store support area. The changes will affect more than 2,324 workers.

Under that plan, the department store group changed the management of the human resources area at the end of march. Gonzalo García Barbadillo, until then regional director of Madrid Centro, took over the management of human resources in the retail area. For his part, Julio Núñez, formerly director of the Sicor alarm division, will be responsible for office personnel.

Along with the new appointments, there has been a reorganization of the human resources analysis department and the elimination of the direction of transversal projects. Technology human resources department It will also assume the online sales staff and the labor relations and occupational health department will be modified.

The group is chaired by Marta Álvarez and led since 2022 by José María Folache, in charge of the retail area, and Santiago Bau, corporate general manager and newly created businesses.

While waiting to know the full results at the end of the year, the group has ended 2022 with a gross operating profit (ebitda) of 1,030 million euros, 20% more than in the previous year and exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
