Eirik Jensen changes from Elden to Klomsæt

It became known on Saturday night that ex-policeman Eirik Jensen has replaced his longtime lawyer John Christian Elden with Sigurd Klomsæt. The latter says that the change of lawyer has been “a process over time”.

– They have probably looked around the ring and looked for someone who can have experience and make an effort, Klomsæt says to Dagbladet.

Elden characterized Jensen’s decision on Saturday as “wise”.

– You should separate while the game is good, and let young new eyes see if they find new clues, Elden told Dagbladet.

– A desperate situation

Jensen stayed last year sentenced to 21 years in prison for gross corruption and drug trafficking, and is now in the process of serving his sentence. Now he and his cohabitant Ragna Lise Vikre elaborate on why he is switching from Elden to Klomsæt.

– Eirik needs a lawyer who is genuinely committed. It can not be the case that a client does not feel seen / heard by his own defender, Vikre writes in an SMS to Dagbladet.

She continues:

– Eirik is in a desperate situation, and is completely dependent on good communication with his defender. We believe that Klomsæt will be the right man now. For several reasons.

On Saturday, Elden informed TV 2 that his employee Farid Bouras will still assist in the case, at the request of Jensen. Vikre now rejects this.

– No, it is not true that Bouras will be an adviser to Eirik, she writes.

– Win-win

John Christian Elden responds to Jensen and Vikre’s statements with apparent calm, and repeats that Bouras has been asked to assist further.

– We think it’s great that new eyes are looking at the case. So far, we have not heard from Jensen or Klomsæt about any desire for a new lawyer, but have confirmed to Vikre that her conveyed desire that Bouras will continue as an advisor and sparring partner for Jensen, is in order for me, writes Elden in an e- mail to Dagbladet.

He adds:

– Jensen deserves all the best, and if he now gets a lawyer with a significantly better time than me, it is a win-win for everyone.

Former Baneheia defender

Sigurd Klomsæt represented for a number of years Baneheia convict Viggo Kristiansen, as now gets his case resumed.

– Everything in the reopening is from my time for Viggo, says Klomsæt.

He was forced to withdraw from the Kristiansen mission after he temporarily lost his legal license in 2012, due to leaks in the July 22 case.

Breakthrough in EMD

The 67-year-old is one of the lawyers in Norway who has been successful in the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) most times. Birgitte Tengs’ cousin was acquitted in the Court of Appeal with Klomsæt and lawyer Erik Nadheim; Klomsæt led the case to victory in EMD.

The lawyer is also remembered for representing the “Foundation investigation of the murderous fire Scandinavian Star”, and is the current lawyer for serial rape convict Julio Kopseng.

Nevertheless, Klomsæt is from time to time exposed to what can be perceived as harassment by legal colleagues. In a comment on Jensen’s change, Elden commented on Saturday:

“One should separate while the game is good, and let young new eyes see if they find new clues.”

67-year-old Klomsæt perceives that “young new eyes” is an ironic remark aimed at him. At the request of Dagbladet to elaborate on the statement, and whether it is aimed at Klomsæt, Elden writes in an SMS:

– I probably feel that this case has made me very old and taken effort and effort, but of course I apologize if he thinks he does not have healthy young eyes to gyve loose on the case. Of course, I will not take from him his adult age and very long experience.

Deleted Twitter posts

In a now deleted Twitter post posted late Saturday night – a few hours after Jensen’s change of lawyer became known – lawyer Brynjar Meling drew the comparison between changing lawyers and switching from a new Mercedes G-Class to “a Ford Taurus 1973 model that just goes on two cylinders, but which makes damn noise due to. holes in the pot and free exhaust ».

On Sunday, however, Meling denies to Dagbladet that the tweet was about Klomsæt, Elden and Jensen. He also will not elaborate on why he has chosen to delete it, or comment on it in any other way.

Klomsæt, for his part, has no doubt that the post was a ladle kick aimed at him, but does not want to go to court with Meling and Elden.

– I know what I have done and achieved. When people come to me, it’s probably because they think I can do a job, he says.

The lawyer believes that there is a socio-geographical distinction between him as an “eastern edge boy” and much of the rest of the legal profession, which to a large extent has a background from Oslo West and other established legal circles.

– I am an underdog from Årvoll (in Groruddalen), and have no need to defend myself against inferior attacks, he says.
