Eintracht Frankfurt will face RB Leipzig in the German Cup final. The team of coach Oliver Glasner won 3-2 at VfB Stuttgart and can prepare for the cup final on June 3 in Berlin.
Stuttgart, which is fighting relegation from the Bundesliga, took the lead at home. After replacing Josha Vagnoman from the right, Tiago Tomás scored the opening goal. Stuttgart then failed to take advantage of opportunities through Tomás and Silas Katompa Mvumpa.
Frankfurt struck twice in a short time just after the break. First Evan N’Dicka equalized and three minutes later Daichi Kamada put the visitors ahead. Goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow knocked down Randal Kolo Muani on a Frankfurt counter. He himself used the penalty kick. Substitute Enzo Millot brought back the tension with the 3-2. Stuttgart had to play the final phase with ten men after the second yellow card for Borna Sosa. The referee saw no penalty for the home team in an alleged handball deep in injury time.
Leipzig had qualified for the final of the DFB Pokal the day before by at SC Freiburg with 5-1. Leipzig is also the cup holder. Last year, the club defeated Freiburg in the final.
