Chengyi Expressway is an important part of the “two corridors and four passages” of Sichuan’s southward expressway channel layout, and the most convenient link between Chengdu Plain Economic Zone and Southern Sichuan Economic Zone. The route starts from the Chengdu Economic Zone Ring Expressway (the “Three Windings” in Chengdu) and arrives at Yibin via Chengdu, Meishan, Neijiang, and Zigong. It is approximately 157 kilometers long, has 6 lanes in both directions, and has a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. After opening to traffic, it takes about 90 minutes to reach Yibin from Chengdu, which saves 1 hour of time.

On the same day, Chengzi-Yu Expressway, Tianfu Airport Expressway (main line and Tianfu branch line section), Wenma Expressway Shiziping Tunnel, Chengdu Economic Zone Ring Expressway Deyang-Jianyang Section and Pujiang-Dujiangyan Section, Yibin City Transit Expressway West Section, Renmuxin Seven expressway projects including Xiaogu to Muchuan section and Mabian branch line section have also been completed and opened to traffic. In addition to the Panzhihua-Dali Expressway, Guang’an Transit and Yu-Guang Branch (Qianfeng Interchange to Sichuan-Chongqing Boundary Section) Expressway that were previously connected to the grid, a total of 10 expressway projects across the province have been opened to traffic this year, covering 620 kilometers. The reporter learned from the Department of Transportation that during the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, 4,400 kilometers of expressways were newly built in the province, with a total mileage of nearly 12,000 kilometers built and under construction, and the newly opened traffic mileage exceeded 2,100 kilometers. “At the end, an increase of 35%, the province’s total mileage of highways opened to traffic ranks third in the country.
