Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, confirmed that Egypt has huge areas for construction Power plants There is no sun and wind like it in the world, and these spaces can be exploited to construct renewable energy stations with capacities of up to 997 thousand megawatts.

Shaker explained, in exclusive statements to “The Seventh Day”, that new plants can be established to generate electricity from wind energy with capacities of up to 350,000 megawatts over a vast area of kilometers, according to what was determined by the Egypt Atlas of Renewable Energy, explaining that new solar energy plants can be established. With capacities up to 647 thousand megawatts.

Shaker said that the ministry is interested in expanding new and renewable energy projects, and the interest in these projects made the New and Renewable Energy Authority.

Shaker added that the ministry was able to achieve many achievements in a short period, including achieving the percentage planned to be reached by 2022 of renewable energy participation ahead of schedule. Currently, the percentage of renewable energy participation from the maximum load of electricity is 20%, which is the percentage that was planned to be reached. her in 2022.

Shaker said that the ministry aims to rely on solar and wind energy in water analysis to generate green hydrogen gas, stressing that it is one of the least expensive and environmentally friendly sources of electricity production, in addition to benefiting from Egypt’s enormous potential in establishing renewable energy stations to expand electrical interconnection projects between Egypt. And all countries of the world.
