Egyptian President Discusses Efforts to Calm Gaza Situation and Proposes Transfer of Civilians

The Egyptian President said that he discussed with the German Chancellor Egypt’s efforts to calm the situation in Gaza, noting that he “proposed the transfer of civilians from Gaza to the Israeli Negev Desert until the end of military operations.”

Al-Sisi continued, saying: “Displacement” of Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt may lead to “displacement” from the West Bank to Jordan.

Al-Sisi added that Egypt rejects the liquidation of the Palestinian cause and the displacement of Palestinians from their lands, noting that Egypt has not closed the Rafah crossing since the beginning of the crisis, but the Israeli bombing prevented it from operating.

Al-Sisi called for allowing humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip, and said, “Continuing military operations will have repercussions on the region and could get out of control.”

The German Chancellor arrived in Egypt on Wednesday after a quick visit to Israel.

Schulz expressed his horror at the images of an explosion in a hospital in Gaza that killed hundreds, and called for a comprehensive investigation.

“Innocent civilians were injured and killed. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims,” Schulz wrote on the X website, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday.

It is noteworthy that hundreds of Palestinians were killed in a bombing of Al-Ahly Baptist Hospital in Gaza City yesterday evening, Tuesday.
