Egyptian Foreign Ministry Calls for Evacuation of Citizens in Sudan Crisis

In a statement on Sunday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on citizens outside Khartoum to go to their nearest point in preparation for their evacuation by the competent Egyptian authorities. This comes within the framework of the Egyptian state’s follow-up to the developments of the Sudanese crisis.

The assembly points were identified in the statement as follows:

  • The headquarters of the Egyptian Consulate General in Port Sudan, Red Sea State.
  • Wadi Halfa Consular Office in Wadi Halfa, Northern State.

The ministry called on the Egyptians in Khartoum to stay in their homes until the security situation improves in the capital, and to re-evaluate the situation in light of the instability of the security situation according to the development of the situation, and in coordination with the Sudanese authorities, in order to allow their evacuation within the framework of the evacuation plan set for all Egyptians in Sudan.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement, that the ministry is following up around the clock with all relevant state agencies, the Sudanese authorities, the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum and Egypt’s consulates in Port Sudan and Wadi Halfa, the conditions of the Egyptian community in Sudan, with the aim of preparing evacuations for those wishing to leave.
