CAIRO (Reuters) – The Cabinet Media Center said in a statement that exports from Wales were $ 8 billion in fiscal year 2021-2022.

The statement did not include comparative data from the previous year. The tax year for Egypt runs from July 1st to June 30th.

Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said on Thursday that Egypt earns about $ 500 million a month from natural gas exports and aims to raise that number to $ 1 billion in the next period.

Egypt is trying to maximize its natural gas exports to obtain foreign currency, after being subjected to financial pressures due to the aftermath of the war in Ukraine.

The government says gas exports have received a boost after implementing a plan to rationalize electricity consumption in August.
