Actor Mikhail Efremov made a political statement through his lawyer Elman Pashayev.

As Pashayev noted, Efremov handed him an appeal in which he touched on his political views. He decided on this step due to the fact that journalists from Ukraine are trying to connect the situation with road accidents with politics.
“Some of them consider the criminal case to be political and cover this tragedy in this way … Mikhail replied that there was no political motive in his case. Neither Putin nor anyone else asked to drive behind that night, ”he said.
The lawyer also added that the actor asked to publicize that he “is not related to the opposition.”
“Where am I – and where is politics? I have no relation to the opposition, I have no relation to politics. I have nothing against Putin’s personality, ”the artist said, adding that the Russian president made a great contribution to culture.
As the publication indicates, commenting on verses in the project “Citizen Poet,” Efremov noted: “I am an artist, a clown, and not an oppositionist. This is my job”.
The actor in poems under this project has repeatedly criticized the authorities.
On the evening of June 8, a car driven by Efremov drove into the oncoming lane on Smolenskaya Square in the center of Moscow and crashed into a van.
As a result of the incident, the driver of the van Sergey Zakharov died in hospital. The examination found that Efremov was drunk.
