Eerdmans (JA21) wants to work with VVD, D66 and CDA | Inland

Eerdmans says this on the second day that scouts Annemarie Jorritsma (VVD) and Kajsa Ollongren (D66) get the party leaders of the political parties on the coffee.

“Then we can achieve a right-wing majority,” said the brand new party leader. D66 leader Sigrid Kaag said on Monday that a coalition with JA21 does not seem very likely to her. “D66 was also not at the top of our list,” says Eerdmans. “But we can grow closer.” Migration is the priority for JA21, followed by climate and the EU – two subjects where the party is diametrically opposed to D66.

CU leader Gert-Jan Segers bounced back the ball that VVD leader Mark Rutte carefully threw on Monday earlier on Tuesday. On Monday, Rutte suggested continuing the current coalition, but Segers is holding back. The CU leader finds it more logical if election winners VVD and D66 first knock on the door of the parties with more seats.

Undressed in negotiations

The scouts have been appointed to map out which coalition can be forged after last week’s parliamentary elections. One of the possibilities is to continue the previous political cooperation: a government of VVD, CDA, D66 and CU. Rutte called this, in addition to a showy flirtation with newcomer JA21, also as an option. But, like many other party leaders on Monday, Segers certainly does not offer itself on a silver platter. Whoever does that, will be completely stripped down during the formation negotiations, it sounded earlier in the party.

The first procession of political leaders already spoke with scouts Jorritsma and Ollongren on Monday. Those were the largest parties, the smaller ones will be next on Tuesday.

PvdD leader Esther Ouwehand was the first to drop by on Tuesday morning. She would like to enter the cabinet, but with a green and progressive coalition that respects the rule of law. She does not immediately join the VVD, the largest party in the country. Ouwehand: “If the VVD moves a bit and we all agree that we will implement what we have internationally agreed on about the climate agreement and the nitrogen problem, then we can participate.”

Laurens Dassen van Volt sees no role for his party in the political mating dance for the time being. “It is desirable for a coalition to have representation in both the House of Representatives and the Senate,” he informed the scouts. Newcomer Volt has no senators.

Left-wing parties are eager to join cabinet

Where most parties leave the ball at VVD and D66, despite the punishment by the voter, the left-wing parties are eager to participate in the cabinet. The lust for government is particularly strong at GL, and the previously forged alliance with the PvdA also seems to be overboard.

The parties have said in advance that they will not enter a cabinet without another left-wing party, but that intention seemed to let go of Jesse Klaver (GL) on Monday. During his visit to the scouts he did not say a word about that left-wing love, even in his publicly published letter to Jorritsma and Ollongren there was nothing about it.

The same applied to Lilianne Ploumen’s letter. But the PvdA leader said after her visit to Jorritsma and Ollongren that she still wanted to hold on to at least one left-wing ally.

The scouts soon come up with their final report. That must be completed before March 30.
