Child care increasingly takes place outside the hospital, at home or at school. In this way, a sick child can also participate in society, despite the illness. This relocation does require different knowledge from pediatric nurses in the district. ExpertCare Academy therefore wrote a pediatric nurse training course at HBO level, aimed at both extramural and intramural care.
Although the training was already classified at level 6 by the NLQF in 2018 and the training was CZO recognized in 2020, the training was not yet recognized by the V&VN as an HBO pediatric nurse training with HBO competencies. This is now the case.
From level 4 to 6
This gives a large group of nurses the opportunity to train as pediatric nurses at HBO level. With level 4, after following a transition module of 3 months, this training can be started at level 6. After 1.5 years, students are then qualified as HBO pediatric nurses and can work both in the hospital and outside it.
Continuing education Pediatric nurse
Children who can be nursed at home increasingly require complex (medical technical) care and support. After obtaining the Pediatric Nurse diploma, professionals can provide complex care to care recipients in the age category 0 to 18 years in both intramural and extramural care settings (transmural). After completing the training, the pediatric nurses are able to promote the recovery, health, growth and development of babies, children and young adults. They know which preventive measures can be taken to strengthen the self-reliance and self-management of children and their parents. They also have an eye for the total chain of care surrounding the sick child.
