Education offers 1,250 dinars salary to substitute teachers

The Ministry of Education called on substitute teachers to go to the relevant regional delegations to sign new employment contracts, stipulating an increase in their salaries from September 2023.

The ministry revealed, Wednesday November 29, in a communiqué that its services sent the contracts in their new version to the regional education delegations, which provide for an increase in the salaries of substitute teachers from 750 dinars per month to 1,250 dinars from September 2023.

She stressed that “any regularization formula adopted by the ministry will not exclude substitute teachers within the framework of the principles of equity, merit and quality”, adding that the technical commissions will resume their meetings to study the teachers’ file substitutes in secondary education and the examination of their situation on all levels, taking into account the specificity of each subject.

The salaries and dues of teachers and substitute teachers or contract teachers will soon be paid retroactively from September 2023, according to the same press release which explains the delay in the payment of salaries by the change in the contract formula after the salary increase.

The increase in the salaries of teachers and substitute teachers comes after the approval by the Council of Ministers of a draft decree amending Government Decree No. 1046 dated 2018 of December 18, 2018 relating to special provisions for contracts aimed at to fill temporary vacancies in educational institutions under the Ministry of Education.

The ministry considered that the approval of this case confirms the desire to improve the professional and financial situation of substitute teachers in order to exercise their educational and pedagogical functions in better conditions.
