Ministry: The situation in kindergartens is tense

According to the Thuringian Ministry of Education, the personnel situation in many kindergartens in the Free State is strained due to illness. “We cannot figure it out statistically, but we know that the situation is tense. There are currently many staff shortages,” a spokesman for the Ministry of Education in Erfurt said on Tuesday. The “Thüringer Allgemeine” had previously reported on the threat of closure of the kindergartens.

According to the spokesperson, there are no closures due to the Infection Protection Act. “If there are closures, they would be operational,” he said she. Various organizations are responsible for the management of kindergartens in Thuringia, including many municipalities.
According to the Ministry of Education, the key minimum staffing, i.e. regulating how many children a kindergarten teacher can take care of, continues to apply. However, carriers may react by merging groups, as many children are also ill and do not attend daycare.
