Education in the Isar Valley – New Elementary School for Icking – Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

The community of Icking will receive another primary school in the coming year. This is announced by the St. Anna School Association. He plans to expand his offer in Villa Eggenberg in Icking from the school year 2021/22 by merging the Günter-Stöhr-Gymnasium with the Sollner Reinhard-Wallbrecher-Grundschule.

“The prospects for the development of a shared school campus at Villa Eggenberg have proven to be better than if the location in Solln were to be continued,” said a press release. For example, the construction of a sports hall or a larger auditorium was very difficult to implement there, while both are already available on the school campus of Villa Eggenberg. “In addition, there has been an increasing number of educational staff being enticed away from private schools in recent years by the state, with the possibility of civil servants”, explains Ute Hennekes, marketing officer for the St. Anna School Association. By amalgamating the primary school with the grammar school and concentrating the educational staff, this challenge could be counteracted and educational cooperation strengthened.

The location of the primary school in Solln will therefore be relocated to Villa Eggenberg in Icking from the school year 2021/22. In the future Villa Eggenberg primary school, two year-combined classes are to be formed. Grades 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4 should be taught together, with a maximum of 12 students per grade. In addition, the school campus in Villa Eggenberg will be modernized and expanded by 2021, says Hennekes. This change is seen as “a necessary step in order to jointly strengthen and further develop our core competencies,” said the managing director of the St. Anna School Association, Rudolf Kutschera.
