Edmonton Oilers Goalie Contract, Performance, and Potential Replacements

The 31-year-old is in the second year of the five-year contract worth a total of $25 million — $5 million per season — he signed with Edmonton as an unrestricted free agent on July 13, 2022.

Oilers sophomore goaltender Stuart Skinner has gone 1-4-1 with an 85.6 save percentage and an average of 3.99 goals allowed per game.

– I think you’ve heard me say it a million times by now; our goalies wear the same jerseys as the rest of the team, Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said Monday.

– Are there moments when the goalkeeping game can be improved? Yes, there is. Are there moments when the team or individual outfielders could do better? Yes, there is. But with the goalie position, it’s always the last outpost so if a mistake is made there, the puck ends up in the net. If a forward makes a mistake, you are usually a good distance from your own goal and people can cover for you.

If Campbell ends up with Bakersfield, the Oilers have the option of calling up either Olivier Rodrigue or Calvin Pickard.

Rodrigue has gone 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and 98.6 save percentage, Pickard has gone 2-2-0 with a 2.03 GAA and 93.9 save percentage.
