Solidarity is not an empty word in Volstroff. As proof of the existence and the smooth running of associations like Ecomissions, which works for the healthiest food possible and respect for the environment, the Eco-school of the Saint-Exupéry school group training students to respect nature, and of course Les Bénévol’stroff to animate a city of more than two thousand inhabitants.
The president of the Bénévol’stroff, Jean-Michel Magard, is also launching a total solidarity operation because of the coronavirus pandemic Covid-19. And to explain: “We must now and as effectively as possible prepare for the announced date of the end of confinement on May 11. We will need masks, many masks given the ever increasing number of inhabitants in Volstroff (no less than three births still at the start of April). This is why the association that I chair has decided to offer all the stock of tablecloths, veils that we have and that have been used for New Year’s Eve parties in recent years. And as the municipality of which I am a part offers elastic bands… we had to find skilled and willing hands to get to the stage of making masks. ”

About fifteen volunteers
A call brought together around fifteen volunteers the next day. A beautiful team that met in the rainbow room to make the first masks, respecting the barrier gestures of course. Some people participate by making them at home.
And with some 300 masks produced daily, the operation started very well. No less than some 5,000 AFNOR masks will already be available for D-Day. All you need to do is ask the town hall. The opening hours are now Monday, 9 am to 11 am; Wednesday, from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m .; and Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.). Registered applicants will not even have to travel since, to guarantee maximum precautions, the city hall services will deposit the number of masks ordered in the mailbox. It is now possible to go to the order phase.
