In reality, it’s open … but no one enters the media library. “We are particularly following the recommendations of the Association of Librarians of France,” said Yamina Mehraz, anxious that the recovery should be done in complete safety. The reopening will therefore take place in several phases. “

Mandatory slots

The modus operandi? Click and collect, or service drive: “You just have to make a selection of books from the online catalog, then send your list to the librarians by email or phone. For those who are not comfortable with the computer tool, the selection can be made by phone. “We will direct the reader to what he likes and make him a tailor-made package,” reassures the director. “It is also a way for us to maintain the link, to interact with users. »An appointment is then made at the media center to collect the documents. “We have cleared several slots with 15-minute gaps to avoid people crossing paths, but so far everyone is very disciplined. “

Quarantined works

Another change, the number of books authorized for loan: “We had to restrict to 10 books, 4 DVDs, 4 CDs and 5 magazines for two months when we were unlimited,” said the director. Returns are made without an appointment, at the media library’s current opening hours. Then, the works are isolated in a room, dated and “immobilized” for ten days, in accordance with the recommendations, before returning to the loop.

The system has already found its followers. All slots were full on Saturday. “In Florange, the media library works well, there is a real demand,” observes Patricia Wanecq, the culture assistant. Count a few days of waiting between the moment when the list is received and that of the withdrawal.

The date of resumption of the animations (story time, meetings with authors, conferences …) is still very uncertain. “Phase 2 will already consist in authorizing entry into the media center, but respecting barrier gestures, wearing a mask, with a direction of movement,” warns Yamina Mehraz. A new reality that users will have to get used to here too.
